We’re delighted to introduce Hoot’s new feature: Seven Days of Style. Every other week we’ll pick a different Columbia student, and photograph his/her ensemble each day. Then, we’ll get the inside scoop on what inspires their look. If you or a stylish friend would like to be considered, send an email to info@hootmag.org!
Meet our first fashion starlet – Hoot’s own Anna Cooperberg (CC ‘12). Anna is Accessories Director for Hoot, as well as a fellow blog editor (check out Anna’s posts on Sundays!). Outside of Hoot, Anna also writes for PurseBlog and is on this year’s Seventeen Style Council. Think you’ve seen her before? Anna is also a talented contortionist and studies the circus art of aerial fabrics.

How would you describe your style?
I’d say that my style is a sort of quirky mix of colors and patterns, but lately I’ve been venturing into a more bohemian, easy sort of style.
When did you first become interested in fashion?
I’ve always like to adorn myself in different ways- as a child I’d obsessively wear certain items over and over, like a gigantic tutu, a striped swimsuit, or huge amounts of bracelets. I only became interested and mentally immersed in the multi-faceted fashion industry near the end of middle school when I began to subscribe to W.
Where do you take your style inspiration from? What are you currently inspired by?
I take a lot of my fashion inspiration from books- I like to imagine how characters dress and then experiment from there. I take cues from a few higher profile fashionistas, most notably Nicole Richie, Susie Lau of Susie Bubble, Rumi Neeley of Fashiontoast, and the late Talitha Pol. The Anna Sui and Karen Zambos Vintage couture collections also really attract me, even though I don’t own anything from those lines. Perhaps in the future.
Where are your favorite places to shop?
I prefer larger department stores, like Barneys, Bergdorf’s and Bloomingdale’s, to small boutiques so that I can look at a larger selection of clothing at once. Shopbop and Revolve clothing are my go-to online shops.
Tell us about your most recent purchase.
I just purchased a colorful Winter Kate chiffon tank dress from ShopBop. I’ll admit it was an impulsive decision, but I have the same tank in black and I have to force myself not to wear it almost every day.
What are your “wardrobe basics?”
Scarves- I tend to wear those more than any other one item. I like to wear them looped or unlooped around my neck, or tied around my head or around a ponytail. I also usually carry a Goyard bag- they’re by far my favorite bag designer, though they’re also known for trunks, luggage, and other small accessories.
What is your spring must-have item?
I’d love to get a pair of flat beaded mini-boots.
